Through medical science we have prolonged our lives
Have we just prolonged our dying?
While we have extended the human life span, we have not extended the human health span! By 2025 the annual cost of managing chronic conditions in the US will exceed a trillion dollars. Already half of those aged 65 and over have 2 or more chronic diseases and a ¼ have problems so severe as to limit their ability to perform one or more normal activities of daily life. Meanwhile the average age of chronically ill is continually getting younger.
How do you want to age? What causes health?
We can learn from healthy Centenarians (those 100 years or older)
The underlying theme and most powerful contributing factor to their longevity is: rather than diminish their value, potency and activity as they age they increase their worthiness, complexity and passion for life. They do not surrender to what is culturally expected of them. They do this intuitively and we can learn to do it mindfully, by practising living in the moment.
They believe illnesses are learned; the causes of health are inherited.
They also believe forgiveness is a liberating act of self-love.
What are you prepared to commit to so you can increase your own healthy longevity.
